DFB-Pokal Semis
Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen will be carrying out the final of the national cup (DFB-Pokal) in Berlin, May 30th.
Leverkusen defeated Mainz 05 from the 2.Bundesliga 4-1 after extra-time already on Tuesday. A noticeable story from that game is Angelo Charisteas’ scoring/acting performance. After the Bayer back-up striker scored the 1-0 lead in the 82nd minute, he pretended an injury by lying in his own penalty box, hoping the referee would cut in on the game or the Mainz-players would shoot the ball out. But instead, the game went on, his acting irritated his own defense more than the opposite team, thus leading to a late equalizer by Mainz. Unfortunately this annoying habit didn’t get punished enough yet again, after Bayer scored three further goals in extra-time. Wishing the cheater better bad luck next time.

The second semi-final yesterday, was the first of the already mentioned four games between Hamburg and Bremen. After a strong performance by Bremen’s keeper Tim Wiese who managed to save three penalties in the shoot-out, Werder advanced to the cup final in Berlin. The next northern clash will be held in Bremen on Thursday the 30th.
