Kickoff week 26

It was the first match for Schalke’s new triumvirate Mike Büskens, Youri Mulder and Oliver Reck. The new old coaches succeeded their former boss Fred Rutten whom they assisted from the beginning of the season and who was dismissed earlier this week. It is the second time after Mirko Slomka’s sacking in 2008 that the former Schalke players take over this temp job. Their stats: 16 out of 18 points. The five victories were achieved without receiving a single goal. Yap, not the best premises for Bielefeld and so the result on the scoreboard said predictable Arminia Bielefeld – Schalke 04 0-2. Peruvian international Jefferson Farfan scored just before half-time after a beautiful cross by Christian Pander while Bundesliga hero Kevin Kuranyi proved everybody who doubted his abilities wrong and scored the second goal in the 93rd minute, relieving his coaches. A much needed victory for the Königsblauen as they are still looking for a new coach and a new manger as well. Side note: Mike Büskens and Woody Harrelson were separated at birth.
